A COMMITMENT BETWEEN LAW ENFORCEMENT
AND EDUCATIONAL AGENCIES TO TEACH D.A.R.E.
(DRUG ABUSE RESISTANCE EDUCATION)

D.A.R.E. is a drug educational prevention program developed by university researchers and taught by uniformed police officers. The program has been highly successful. Its success is based upon the uniting of two of society's most influential entities: law enforcement and education. The success of the program requires that a mutual commitment be established between those agencies involved. (DARE America)

East Greenbush Police have been conducting the DARE program since its inception in the early 1980's. Detective Joe DeSeve was the first officer of the East Greenbush Police Department to implement and teach the program in the East Greenbush schools.
